In this week’s post we look at a simple light setup during a groom prep for a mixed faith wedding I captured recently in London.  We have natural light coming in through the window on the groom giving a soft diffused light.  On camera right a small continuous light (ice light) was used to add a little more dimension to this shot creating an element of fill light.

You will see from the before and after shots that a simple shift in position has meant that the reflection on the frame on camera left has created more interest and a far better shot.

Keeping your eyes open for reflections is a useful skill as it offers a perspective unlike any other and builds on the reportage/documentary feel of the photo shoot.
